Cayambe/Antisana Skills Expedition
January 16 - 31 2016Guide: Joaquin Andino
Climbers: Bill M., Victoria F., Greg A.
Morning update:
Guagua Pichincha 11:15pm local time
Joaquin called to report that the trip was going well and that the group was about to begin the ascent of the second acclimatization climb, Guagua Pichincha (15,670 feet) in misty but mild conditions.
Yesterday, the group climbed 13,776-foot Pasochoa. The weather was perfect, with mixed sun and cloud and excellent views of Cotopaxi and Antisana. The ascent took them 2.5 hours from trailhead to summit. A scramble up the last section to the crater added flavor.
Stay tuned for more updates as the trip progresses.
