Both Ben and Mark called in a few minutes ago to let us know that everyone is safely off the mountain and back in Talkeetna!  After a bit of tense waiting during the nasty weather, they can all relax and celebrate now.  Congratulations to all our Guides and Teams for another great season on Denali.

Mark Cionek called at 9am PST with the following dispatch for both Teams 7 and 8:

Mark reported that both teams are still sitting on the glacier waiting to fly out. The glacier has been socked in  and it has not been safe to fly or land. Right when they arrived at base camp they were able to get four climbers from team 7 on a plane, they were Mark Horell, Eric Cholis, Courtney Cholis, and Tim Jowett. The rest of Team 7 and Team 8 are still at base camp. 

The glacier has just cleared up and it would be safe to land today. Hopefully it's that clear in Talkeetna today too. If all goes well the teams will be flying off the glacier by about 10:30am PST. Keep your fingers crossed.

The whole team is still with them and they are all eating well resting up just waiting for an opportunity to make the summit push. Hopefully their day will come sooner than later.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints and the weather the group decision is to head down the mountain. The weather doesn't look like it will break any time soon, the winds and temperatures are too formidable to move up the mountain. They've tried more than once and haven't made much progress up the mountain at all. They will probably begin descending today.

Mark Cionek called at 3pm PST on July 1st. I spoke to him briefly and he reported that they were having some trouble with the Sat phone battery so we got cuttoff once. They were sitting tight waiting for a weather window. Everyone was doing great, resting eating well, etc. Mark said he was going to call in an audio dispatch but he must be having further technical difficulty and/or is saving what sat phone battery he has for emergencies. Since we didn't hear I thought I'd let everyone know what is probably happening.
