Denali Team 1: April 29 to May 19, Dispatch #8

Guides: Alasdair Turner, Chad Cochran, Aili Farquhar

Climbers: Maria Conceicao (Dubai), Stephen Martin (UK), Christopher Kulish (Colorado), Zlatko Filipovic (Sweden), Steve Bain (Colorado), Lorenzo Baraldini (Italy), Christopher Heywood (Oman), Sergey Dmitriev (Russia), Vitaly Simonovich (Russia)

Aili called at 12pm PST on May 9th, with the following dispatch: (We appologize for the delay in posting as blogger was having technical difficulties yesterday)

A storm is coming in tonight so we are getting anxious and fortifying camp and acclimatizing at 14,200 feet. There is a very big lenticular cloud over the summit and we're seeing lots of amazing cloud action with the coming weather. Looking down, the entire Kahiltna is covered in a layer of clouds.

We retrieved our cache yesterday so the food is good and we've chipped through a layer of ice to make a comfortable cook tent for ourselves. We are definitely enjoying a new batch of provisions. Inside our newly fortified cook tent the climbers are hanging up the flags of the many nations represented in our group. It's been a source of entertainment and conversation we will all have fond memories of I'm sure. That's all for now, we are sitting tight at this altitude while we wait out the expected high winds and wait for Chad to return from delivering Lorenzo back to Base Camp.
