Ecuador High Altitude Expedition - 5/10 - 5/24 - Dispatch 2

Ecuador High Altitude Expedition - 5/10 - 5/24
Guide: Jaime Avilla
Climbers: Chris Howe, Shelby Howe, Hillary Davis

Jaime Avilla called at 8:35 pm PST on May 12 with the following dispatch:

"Hello this is Jaime calling from Quito. Today we climbed Pasachoa, 4200meters (13,779'), we left Quito around 8:30. The drive was pleasant and the team really appreciated the landscape. The team did great, the hike took about 4 hours round trip. This is quite fast so the team is looking strong.

Tomorrow we will go up to Ruca Pichincha. Normally we climb Guagua Pichincha. We have changed the plan to avoid a landslide between Guagua Pichincha and Guachala. We would not be able to drive to the trailhead. Instead we will take a cable car up to about 4,000 meters (13,123') and will climb Ruca Pichincha from there. We should get some beautiful views of both Quito and the mountains. Hopefully we'll be able to see some of the volcanoes we'll be climbing."
